Does this video suggest that Eduardo could become Arsenal's top scorer?

Euro 2008 is upon us and watching Croatia in action in their 1-0 win over co-hosts Austria at the weekend one thing was obvious; the Croats really miss Eduardo da Silva.

The Brazilian born Dudu is undoubtedly one of the best strikers in the world and his record for his adopted country is impressive - 13 goals in 22 appearances.

And the good news for us Gooners is that it looks like Eduardo could join his Arsenal team mates in time for pre-season training next month as he astounds doctors with his speedy recovery from one of the worst injuries I have ever seen - a double compound fracture of his left leg and an open dislocation of the ankle.

Arsenal are superb when it comes to dealing with long term injured players and as with anyone crocked for so long, the club allowed Eduardo to choose where he wanted to undergo his rehabilitation, so the 25-year-old took the opportunity to return to Rio de Janeiro for a few months.

Reports from the clinic he is attending are hugely encouraging and as our video shows, not only is off his crutches, but just three months after a potentially career ending injury he is walking unhindered, kicking a ball and even running in the gym...

Could Nikolai Dimitrov be set to join Arsenal?

Apologies for the music in the above video clip, but it's the best footage I could find of reported Arsenal target Nikolai Dimitrov.

According to newspaper gossip, the 20-year-old is poised for a trial with the Gunners, probably at some point this month and from what you can see in the video, it's not surprising that Arsene Wenger is interested in the youngster.

Arsenal are remaining tight lipped on the subject, but Dimitrov's team Levski Sofia seem only too keen to inform the world of Wenger's intentions.

Levski manager Stanimir Stoilov has told the media that the club has accepted Wenger’s invitation for Dimitrov to travel to North London for a trial...

Are Real Madrid running scared of losing Daniel Parejo to Arsenal?

There's not much on YouTube about Spanish wonderkid Daniel Parejo, but I managed to find the above clip featuring the player that Arsene Wenger is rumoured to be about to splash out £10 million for.

Apparently that's the figure in Parejo's contract that would trigger his release from Real Madrid. And the Spanish giants seem to be running scared as team manager Bernd Schuster even considered giving the teenager a shock call up to his team when they faced Partizan Belgrade in last week's Bernabeu Trophy exhibition match.

Spanish clubs are getting understadably worked up about losing some of their best young players to English clubs, as Barcelona can atest to having lost Cesc Fabregas and Fran Merida to the Gunners.

However, the £10 million clause in Parejo's contract means that Los Merengues would be heavily compensated if he was to move on.

Did former Gunner Sammy Nelson stitch up Manchester United?

Here's one for all you conspiracy theorists out there. Last Sunday's FA Cup draw has become the centre of a match fixing row after The Daily Star highlighted the above video of the draw which seems to suggest Aston Villa did not draw Manchester United.

Former Arsenal player Sammy Nelson drew out the ball that purported to be the Manc team's number, but the video suggests he got number 24 and number 25 mixed up.

As a result, our friends at Man United Pies are crying foul and are pointing the finger at Nelson for pitting Alex Ferguson's team against Villa for the fourth time in just seven FA Cup campaigns. To read the Man United Pies' take on the controversy, click here.

If Nelson did mix up the numbers, then Villa would have faced Middlesbrough (No.25), while Man United (No.24) would have drawn Bristol City.

FA bosses are claiming that Nelson did not cheat and that the numbers were correct, but looked dodgy because of a trick of the light. But what do you think? Have a gander at the footage and share your thoughts on the controversy here.

Is Arsene Wenger looking to bring Tresor Mputu to Arsenal?

Apparently Arsene Wenger could be set to sign striker Tresor Mputu, if the Congolese international’s club side are to be believed.

Mputu turns 22 in December and it appears he is on his way to North London for a trial, as his club’s sporting director, Salomon Idi Kalonda is reported as saying, “We've received an invitation from Arsenal for Mputu.”

Currently playing for TP Mazembe, Mputu is undoubtedly one of the hottest young talents still playing in the Afrcan continent. His team reached the African Champions League this year and Mputu became the tournament’s top scorer.

He can also score at international level, having netted five times in his 10 appearances for Congo. Our video isn't the best of quality, but you can get an idea of Mputu's skills and it's good to see that he looks sharp, at least. And we can be certain he'll prefer Arsenal's London Colney training centre to his current facilities.

So, just how much of Arsene Wenger’s £70 million transfer kitty would it take to prize Tresor from the African leagues? Well, the equivalent of a packet of chewing gum, a set of used Arsenal strips and a couple of autographed footballs for the Mazembe Christmas raffle, that's how much...

Could Karim Benzema be wearing an Arsenal strip next year?

I’ve lost count of the number of players Arsenal have been connected with buying in the January transfer window, but here’s one that I really hope there is some truth to - Lyon’s Karim Benzema.

The French international turns 20 in December, but he is arguably the best played in France at the moment and could be exactly the kind of player Arsene Wenger is looking for to strengthen our striking options.

Benzema is the top scorer in Ligue 1 with 11 goals in his first 11 games for Lyon this season, plus another for his team in their 2-0 Champions League away to Stuttgart last week.

Have a gander at the above footage of Benzema and see what you think. It’s a big statement, but his cool finishing reminds me of one Thierry Henry and some of the touches he shows are straight out of Titi’s box of tricks.

Of course, Wenger has also been linked with Karim’s team mate Hatem Ben Arfa, but given that Le Gaffer has a £70 million transfer fund at his disposal, even the £25 million that is being mentioned in connection with the duo is not outwith Arsenal’s capabilities now...
