Your vote: New defender is needed to cover Kolo Toure's absence

It's funny how opinions can change so quickly in football.

A couple of months ago when I asked you lot where Arsene Wenger should be looking to strengthen the Arsenal team, the most popular choice was for a winger (36%) and then a goalkeeper (30%). For the full results of that poll, click here.

However, when I put the same question to you earlier this week, the overwhelming answer was that we need to sign a centre back, presumably to cover for Kolo Toure and Alexandre Song while they are on duty at the African Cup of Nations.

Now I'm not going to disagree with the 34% of you who voted for the centre back option, but I just don't think Le Gaffer is going to buy anyone significant in the next coupple of weeks, because he wants to show faith in his players, even if that faith is misguided...

Poll: Which area do Arsenal need to strengthen to win the Premier League?

A couple of months ago, I asked you lot which position you would like to see Arsene Wenger dusting off the Arsenal cheque book for in order to strengthen the first team squad for our assault on the Premier League title.

Back then your priorities turned out to be a wide midfielder (36%), a goalkeeper (30%) and a striker (18%). For the full results of that poll, click here, but I'm guessing that you will probably have changed your minds since then.

And I'm not afraid to flog a dead horse or two, so this should be an interesting little experiment to gauge just how the team has progressed since the last poll and where us Gooners believe are the weak links in the chain.

Inevitably I reckon the centre back positions will win the vote, given the absence of both Kolo Toure and Alexandre Song at the African Nations Cup, but while I aim to make Arsenal Pies as democratic as possible, unfortunately Arsenal Football Club is not a democracy and despite the amount of energy and cash us fans invest in our beloved club, when it comes to team matters, we're an unheard voice...

Poll: Who was Arsenal's Man Of The Match against Birmingham?

I'm going to be generous and give you lot a few days to think about this one, as I'm struggling to think who should be rewarded for their performance on Saturday.

A home tie against Birmingham should have netted Arsenal all three points, but the problem is that the players seemed to believe that as soon as they stepped on the pitch and as a result, they did not show the right kind of attitude to secure the win.

Credit must be given to Alex McLeish in setting up his Brummie side in the correct manner, mind you. The visitors defended well and managed to thwart everything that the Gunners threw at them.

Indeed, had it not been for a rather dubious penalty decision, Arsene Wenger's team could have emerged from Saturday's match with nothing at all to show for their efforts...

Your Vote: Eduardo da Silva was Man Of The Match against Tottenham

Ok, so we were a tad fortunate to come away with a draw against Tottenham the other night in the first leg of the Carling Cup semi final. But if you check out what's been written on Spurs Pies in the past day or so, even the Spuds fans are pointing out that their full strength first team could not beat Arsenal's reserves and youths.

And the Tottenham Hopeless fans are very pessimistic about their chances of making the final, as they believe that Arsene Wenger will put out a stronger side in the game at Light Weight Lane in a couple of weeks' time.

For his part, Le Gaffer has stated that he won't deviate from his policy of letting the youngsters prove their worth in the Carling Cup, but he's always bolstered the side with a handful of more experienced players and I'm hoping that he'll consider playing Cesc Fabregas and Mathieu Flamini in the return leg - after all, they're hardly veterans.

Getting back to Wednesday's game, you chose Brazil-born Croatian internationalist Eduardo as your Arsenal Pies Man Of The Match, despite the fact that he only came on as a half-time substitute after Robin van Persie picked up an injury...

Poll: Who was Arsenal's Man Of The Match against Tottenham?

It wasn't exactly a classic North London derby, but the outcome was pretty much normal - Tottenham Hopeless simply cannot beat the Arsenal.

But they should have. They had numerous gilt-edged chances to put the game beyond the reach of the Gunners, but in the end a lucky goal by Theo Walcott kept up Arsenal's record of not having lost a game to the Spuds since 1999 - 22 derby games ago.

To say Arsenal were lacklustre is putting it midly. Gilberto - the most experienced player on the park - was absolutely diabolical and quite why we would hold on to him while apparently letting a talent such as Lassana Diarra walk away from the club is completely beyond me.

Football is a fickle game, but just what has happened to Gilberto? Last season he was one of our best players, standing in as captain and looking like a truly world class player. This season he's barely kicked a ball and when he does, it invariably goes to a member of the opposing team.

If Juventus or Valencia or one of the Milan clubs comes cheque book in hand for the Brazilian skipper this month, then Arsene Wenger should bite their hands off, as Gilberto is now surplus to requirements...

Your vote: Eduardo da Silva was Man Of The Match against Burnley

His sixth goal in four games opened Arsenal's account against Burnley on Sunday, but as Arsene Wenger commented after the match, the bigger talking point was that our Croatian striker Eduardo had actually missed a chance inside the box - highly unusual for him.

The 24-year-old Brazilian-born hit man is starting to show the goalscoring form that prompted Le Gaffer to dust off Arsenal's seldom-used chequebook last summer and not only did he get on the scoresheet again, but he proved there is more than one part to his game by picking out a Nicklas Bendtner run with an inch perfect pass for the Gunners' winner against Burnley.

And in that kind of form it's hardly surprising that 76% of you voted Eduardo as the Arsenal Pies Man Of The Match as we watched our FA Cup campaign get under way in suitable fashion.

Tonight Eduardo will hopefully get his first taste of a North London derby when the Spuds visit Dubaibury for what looks, on paper, like it should be a great game. Another goal for our No.9 will see him equal Emmanuel Adebayor's tally for the season, but will also match Thierry Henry's total for his final season with the Gunners...

Your vote: Arsenal don't need to make January signings to win the league

A few short months ago, I don't think there were many Gooners who were not despairing at Arsenal's lack of signings after the departure of talismanic skipper Thierry Henry.

The pundits were not only writing off our potential as title challengers, but were also doubting that the Gunners, minus Titi, could even make it into the top four.

Indeed the only man who had unshaken belief in the team was Arsene Wenger. Never has the mantra, Arsene Knows, been more appropriate than the first half of this season. The club are still contenders in four competitions, are top of the Premier League and have shown that they have the fight to win in a variety of different scenarios.

And who did he buy in? Defensive midfielder Lassana Diarra, defender Bacary Sagna and striker Eduardo, as well as rookie goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

Now Le Gaffer insists we don't need to buy anyone in the current transfer window to win the Premier League and it seems like you lot overwhelmingly agree...
