With Samir Nasri signed, where should Arsenal look to strengthen next?

Another weekend, another slew of stories about this closed season's trio of tabloid favourites - Emmanuel Adebayor, Alexander Hleb and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Of course nothing happened over the weekend, but in the minds of the sports hacks we're another 48 hours closer to three of the most talented players in the Premier League departing for Spain. Or Italy.

Back in the real world, I enjoyed lunch just around the corner from Highbury Stadium yesterday and was delighted to see a youngster wearing the new Arsenal strip with the number 8 and "Nasri" on the back of his shirt.

Meanwhile, the talk among the Arsenal faithful over lunch was who Arsene Wenger might be looking to sign next, or more to the point, which position on the pitch he believes the Gunners need to strengthen.

For me, it's a simple answer - centre back. But I'm going to put it to the test to see what you lot think. I've given you a bunch of options; everything except left and right back, where I think it would be difficult to improve, so vote away and be sure to back up your thoughts with any comments if you feel the need.

i think we need get an out and out defensive midfielder. Not because we are desperate for one, because personally i think Diaby can be the business in that position, but because Wenger has made it clear that he's not in the market for a centre half and so it makes absolute logical sence to get a pure holding midfeild player to cover our frequently calamitous defense who often fail to keep a clean sheet or shut up shop on a 1-0 lead with 10 or 20 minutes left in a game let alone against the big four.

If we can get an out and out defensive midfielder , not just any old work horse like we had in Flamini though he was fantastic for us last season, but someone who would be so efficient at breaking up play and an eye for both a pass and a a well timed forward charge that our opponents would have to think three times over in the final third of the pitch when comming at us.

We need a fearless midfield General, someone with height, strength and an intimidating presence who can tackle with a bit of meat & steal and able to handle those annoying long balls to powerful centre forwards our centre halfs just arent built to handle and at the same time put a little fear into our opponents attacking midfeilders. Someone like Mamadu Diarra or even Papa Bouba Diop [who i know we can get for pennies and thus making him the perfect buy for our Mr. Wenger], who has experience and who Wenger can work with.

That would not only make our centre halfs more comfortable but it also allows them to use their pace to pick of the little balls that might get through or to to be more effective at man marking to silence 90 minute threats like Torres or Teves or at closing down forwards who are good at holding up the ball, like Rooney or Berbashite or Drogba. It would also allow Fabregas to focus a lot more on his attacking game which we all know he is the best at in the EPL if not the world at the moment. At the same time if we then move Diaby into that position we would have something we dont have strength in depth an the holding midfeild role, something we lacked last season because lets face it, as much as we all love Gilberto, he doesnt have the legs anymore to play at the pace we do and seeing him come onto the pitch last season more often than not ended up in a negative result for us.

Hands down - left footed, left sided out-and-out left winger. Diaby just doesn't cut it. Even Rosicky when fit tends to drift in. Nasri can replace Hleb but Diaby or Eboue? No way.

How i dream that we could sign Sergio Aguerro - this guy is class.

Qr need a holding midfielder. Ill take gareth Barry villa and nasri for hleb Adebayor and flamini any time. I think kolo toure's skills are declining and Dunne would have been nice but we are weaker elsewhere and senderos is still a decent backup despite his occasional howler

a TA 6...centre back...and a defensive midfielder who can blow up the attack from the opposition esp the long balls whereby our defense was so uncomfortable last season..

bring in aguero, song/bischoff step up to dm role. if we could bring in zhirkov, and bastian schweinsteiger, we control midfield and dominate.

DMF would be great and a youngster to replace tore in a couple of year, and another CMF or SMF to maintain the power that we lose during the heavy weeks which we play 4 matches on 2 weeks
