Would you welcome the return of Thierry Henry to Arsenal?

Rumour is rife today that departing Arsenal managing director Keith Edelman was pushed out of the boardroom because of his refusal to free up the Gunners' purse strings.

The news of his departure has sparked fresh hopes that there is about to be a sea change in Arsenal's finances and that the constrictive wage structure under which Arsene Wenger has to operate could be scrapped. That might perhaps allow us to keep Mathieu Flamini at the 11th hour, as well as trying to attract world class players, with the promise of world class wages.

Indeed, Wenger yesterday admitted that contract talks with Flamini are continuing and that he is still hopeful that the 24-year-old will stay at Arsenal.

Now I'm not claiming to have any contacts on the club's board, but the timing of Edelman's announcement is curious. Why not wait 10 days until the season is over?

According to newspaper speculation, Edelman was acting as the club's Ebeneezer Scrooge when it came to transfer deals and contract negotiations, with the Flamster's deal perhaps being the straw that broke the camel's back.

So we may yet get some good news on Matty's future, while one intriguing snippit involves the supposed return of Thierry Henry from Barcelona...

I still think that the chances of seeing Titi in an Arsenal strip next season are very very remote, but with Le Gaffer saying "Never say never", Henry saying that Arsenal is the only club in his heart and now Kolo Toure urging his former skipper to return, who knows what could happen in the summer?

"He'll be very welcome to come back, because I think he's an Arsenal legend, he can still score a lot of goals, and we will be much better," said Kolo. "So of course we will welcome him with a lot of joy and happiness because we all know that with him we'll be better.

"I'll try to speak to him soon, we'll try and convince him to come back to his home. I think he'll come back to play in England, at Arsenal, because he did so much for the club and I know that the fans still have him in their heart."

Latterly Henry was said to be a negative influence on the dressing room, but having had to eat a bit of humble pie - and having seen that Arsenal can perform very well without him - if he did return we could see a player with a very different attitude. We'd also benefit from his creative spark, as well as knowing that he would be able to convert a lot of the chances that we've missed this season.

I always thought that making Titi club captain detracted from his game, so to have him back in the squad as an out and out striker, while someone like Cesc Fabregas or Kolo took the skipper's armband, might not be a bad idea.

The return of such a legend would involve Arsenal ignoring its policy of never re-signing someone that has been sold. But with Edelman's departure - and provided that Henry came at a price cheaper than the £16 million we sold him for - I wouldn't have a problem with seeing that particular rule torn up.

But what do you lot think? Would you be like Toure and welcome Thierry back? Or do you think his injury problems make him a spent force? Share your opinions here.

As long as he's able to play his part, Thierry Henry will ALWAYS be welcome at Arsenal.

Sorry Thierry, but I think it is best not to return at Arsenal, as a player.

TH14 has provided so many great memories for myself and many other fans. However I want them to stay that way. Bringing back a player who seems to be half the man he once was, will hurt those of us who have admired him for years.

I also think that in today's footballing climate, anything more then 8million would be too much.

I agree - he will always be an Arsenal hero, and I think going back would only serve to detract from that. It would be nice to see him back at Arsenal, playing his best and fitting in, but in reality I don't think that could happen. Thanks for the memories, Thierry.
