Can Wenger keep Alexander Hleb at Arsenal?

Arsene Wenger is facing another tussle to keep one of his midfielders, with reports suggesting that Alexander Hleb is keen on a big money move to Inter Milan.

Le Gaffer has already stated that he intends to report Inter to FIFA for allegedly tapping up Hleb and his opposite number at the Italian giants - Roberto Mancini - has all but admitted his club's guilt in making an illegal approach to the Belarussian international.

Hleb still has two years left on his Arsenal contract and Wenger yesterday revealed that he wants the talented playmaker to remain in his squad, but Hleb's agent has hinted that they might invoke the Webster clause, which would allow him to buy out the remainder of his contract with the Gunners to secure a summer move to Italy.

"What people say about the buy-out clause, it is not as simple as it looks," Arsene comments. "It is much more difficult and the clubs are reluctant to do that [invoke the 'Webster Clause'].

"We want to keep Hleb, we want him to be part of our team next year. It is as simple as that. We have lost one player [Mathieu Flamini], we do not want to lose more."

However, if Wenger is unable to get Hleb and his representatives to agree a contract extension, I think he may take the opportunity to cash in on the player while he can still make some money on the deal.

What do you think? Is Alexander Hleb a vital part of Arsenal's future plans? Or should the club be willing to let him go to a potential European rival? Share your opinions here.

As much as I have enjoyed Hleb's play this year, I do not think losing him would hurt us as much as Flamini will.

Hleb is a creative player, who is a good playmaker, clearly his finishing is the only real downside.

There are plenty of this type of player out there, if we can get a good price (15+ million) then I would say let him go.
