Young gun Henri Lansbury turns 17 today

Many happy returns to Arsenal fringe player Henri Lansbury who celebrates his 17th birthday today.

Expect to see Henri in Arsene Wenger’s Carling Cup plans this season, as he featured in the 16-man squad for the third round victory over Newcastle United last month.

Lansbury is widely regarded as one of the best English prospects in youth football. The midfielder is an England youth international and was a key player in the Three Lions’ run to the UEFA Under-17 Championship Final in May. Unfortunately Lansbury picked up an injury in the semi final against France and missed the showpiece, which England lost to Spain.

Henri is one of Arsenal’s longest serving players, having been a member of the club’s academy since he was nine-years-old.

Last season he made six appearances for the reserves and 17 appearances for the Under-18s. This season he has played in three youth games so far, scoring two goals in the 5-0 victory over Leicester last month.

With any luck we’ll get to a lot more of Henri if the Gunners can put together an extended run in the Carling Cup.

Happy Birthday Henri, from everyone at Arsenal Pies.
