Will you welcome Thierry Henry back to say a proper goodbye?

Our former skipper, Thierry Henry, wants to make a winter return to the Emirates Stadium so that he can say a proper goodbye - and presumably a thank you - to his North London fans.

For anyone who has been living on the moon for the past few months, Henry moved to Barcelona in a £16 million deal during the summer, despite having repeatedly said he wanted to remain at Arsenal for the rest of his career.

That caused anger among quite a few Gooners, but thankfully the team has gone from strength to strength without Titi and, with that in mind, perhaps everyone will welcome him back if does deign to honour us with his presence.

Henry says he doesn’t want to make a song and dance about revisiting the club which developed him into the football world’s hottest property. Rather he wants to come back to watch his former colleagues in action from the stands. And no doubt accept a little adulation...

“I think I will try and do it in December because we have a winter break in Spain and I will have the time,” Henry told the Evening Standard. “I would rather go back in a non-playing situation and be able to enjoy it. I don't want to get drawn against Arsenal in the Champions League this season. That would not be a proper way to say goodbye to the fans.

“I won't walk out on the pitch or anything like that. The focus should be on the team and I don't want to draw any attention away from them and what they're doing. They will be playing a game and I want to respect that.”

The Spanish break happens between Christmas Eve and 6th January, meaning the only game he could possibly attend during that window would be the game against West Ham on New Year’s Day.

For the record, I wish Titi all the best at the Nou Camp. He's without doubt the best striker I've ever seen and the fact that he was a Gunner for the majority of his playing career shouldn't be forgotten, even if the manner of his departure from Arsenal was far from satisfactory. I completely understand his reasons for wanting to play for Barcelona before his career ends and as we're seeing with our flying start to the season, the young Arsenal team has used his absence as a positive, rather than believe the pundits who said we'd be nothing without him.

But will you welcome Thierry Henry back to Arsenal? Or do you think his presence at Emirates Stadium would be an unwelcome distraction for his former team mates? Share your thoughts here using our comments section

No doubt about it - Henry should always be welcomed back with grace and gratefulness. He's a very classy guy and an all-time Arsenal legend.
