What the papers say: Stan Kroenke meets with Arsenal board

With Alisher Usmanove launching his "I love Arsenal" charm offensive earlier this week, yesterday it was the turn of the Gunners' board as billionaire American investor Stan Kroenke visited the Emirates Stadium for the first time.

Here’s what some of the main dailies are reporting about Arsenal today:

The Times - Stan Kroenke gets red-carpet treatment at the Emirates
Stan Kroenke has met the Arsenal board for the first time. The American billionaire arrived at about 2pm yesterday and spent two hours being shown around the Emirates Stadium by Keith Edelman, the club’s managing director.

The Guardian - Kroenke has been priced out of Arsenal, says Usmanov
Stan Kroenke's ambitions for Arsenal have been thwarted by Alisher Usmanov's interest in the club, according to the Russian billionaire's inner circle. Usmanov's advisers are confident that the £10,000-a-share investment he made in acquiring a portion of his 23% stake in the Premier League leaders will deter the American from increasing his own 12.2% interest.

The Mirror - Ashley Cole's Arsenal 'paranoia'
Ashley Cole felt "paranoid" at Arsenal because no one spoke English in the dressing room and he feared the foreigners were talking about him, his wife Cheryl has revealed.

The Independent - Van Persie delights in proving the doubters wrong
Amid the mayhem of trailing wires, ponderous security measures and media jostling that followed Arsenal's 1-0 Champions League Group H match win in Bucharest, Robin van Persie was as cool as he had been in sweeping home the decisive goal 15 minutes from time.

The Telegraph - Arsenal's Robin van Persie in the know
Robin van Persie stood in the enveloping gloom of Bucharest in the early hours of yesterday morning to savour the 1-0 success over Steaua made possible by his 76th-minute strike. It was Arsenal's ninth straight victory. "I think we can win things," the Dutch forward said. "Why not? This is our aim. Of course, if it happens this season I am a glad man. I told you guys before the season and everyone was laughing."

The Daily Mail - Wenger's new boys have his old guard on the run
If competition for places is the key, having the captain of Brazil on the bench and Germany's goalkeeper in the background must be a good sign. Arsenal's 19-match unbeaten run is the best since the 'Invincibles' lost at Manchester United in 2004 after 49 matches without defeat and their impressive start to this season has been hailed for its style and energy.
