What the papers say: Roy Keane predicts Man Utd will retain title

While Arsene Wenger might be impressed by the fighting spirit among his first team, Sunderland boss Roy Keane believes his former club, Manchester United, still have the edge over the Gunners and will ultimately win the Premier League this season.

Here’s what the main dailies are saying about yesterday's win over Sunderland:

The Guardian - Van Persie strike allows Arsenal's immaturity to go unpunished
Roy Keane, a man who knows a thing or two about title races, said yesterday that he believes "Manchester United have the edge" over Arsenal in what he sees as a two-team affair. The Sunderland manager declined to expand on his reasons - "I just think they do" - but anybody who thinks his coyness was down to old allegiances clearly did not see this game.

The Sun - Van drives Arsenal to the top
Robin van Persie smashed a deadly double to help fire Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League table. But Sunderland chief Roy Keane reckons his old side Manchester United will be the ones cracking open the bubbly next May.

The Times - Theo Walcott to the rescue as Arsenal hit fierce resistance
A total of 7,920 minutes of Barclays Premier League football have been played by 22 members of the Arsenal squad this season; of that, just 204 minutes have been the work of Englishmen.

The Mirror - Arsenal 3-2 Sunderland
Robin Van Persie was Arsenal's hero for a third time in a week after his late winner took the Gunners back to the top of the Premiership.

The Independent - Van Persie at double to leave Keane pointless
Arsene Wenger and Roy Keane have spoken about the danger of football losing its soul, but there was plenty of heart yesterday as Sunderland drove Arsenal mighty close before succumbing to a second accomplished strike from Robin van Persie which restored his side to the summit of the Premier League.

The Telegraph - Leaders Arsenal pushed to the limit
Another question asked, another answer found. Arsenal's swaggering start to the season was maintained by a 10th consecutive win, but it was their hardest earned yet. Sunderland needed beating not once, but twice. Two goals up inside 15 minutes, Arsenal looked set for a rugby score, but they required another late winner from Robin van Persie to recover top spot in the Premier League table.

The Daily Mail - Soul survivor Robin steers Gunners back to the top
For a game that is supposedly losing its soul, Roy Keane and Arsene Wenger provided a sobering reminder that there is, indeed, more to football than fast cars and even faster girls.

The Daily Express - Wenger impressed by Gunners fortitude
Arsene Wenger reckons his Arsenal side are showing the "resources" needed to mount a sustained fight for the title after Robin van Persie helped fire the Gunners back to the top of the Premier League. The Gunners were cruising at 2-0 up against Sunderland inside a quarter of an hour but Wenger's men then inexplicably lost "mental focus" as the visitors clawed themselves back into the match before Van Persie produced a neat finish following great work by substitute Theo Walcott.
