Happy Birthday to Arsenal's Paul Rodgers

Many happy returns today to Arsenal reserve player Paul Rodgers.

Paul turns 18 today and is enjoying a good start to the 2007/08 campaign, having so far played six games for the Gunners this season - four for the reserves and two in the Under-18 League.

A strong defender, Paul switched position last year from right-back to centre-back, where he has struck up a good partnership with Gavin Hoyte.

His performances last year were good enough to win Rodgers a professional contract at the club, which he signed at the start of this season. He also made his first team debut in the pre-season 2-0 win over Barnet, coming on as a second half substitute.

Hailing from Edmonton, Paul is already an England youth international and he will be hoping that he can keep on progressing this season, with the possibility that he can figure in Arsene Wenger’s Carling Cup squad.

Happy birthday Paul, from everyone at Arsenal Pies
