Gallas picks Traore but who do YOU think is Arsenal's best Young Gun?

Almost every summer Arsene Wenger focuses his radar on the latest ‘hot prospect’ in world football and lures the youngster to his Arsenal academy for fine-tuning to their football education.

More often than not, they then emerge as a first-team player and before long, are the envy of clubs everywhere.

Glancing down the current Arsenal squad list shows just how many potential world class players we have at our disposal. But this tends to stir the same question among Arsenal fans: who’s the pick of the bunch?

According to Gunners’ captain William Gallas, Carling Cup Final left-back Armand Traore has “monster potential” and has tipped the former Monaco trainee as the most promising Young Gun at the club.

Theo Walcott arrived as the most high-profile young recruit in January 2006 but is he the best? Then there is Abou Diaby, who is reported to have met - and then rejected - Chelsea’s then manager Jose Mourinho before signing up with the Gunners.

Lassana Diarra, a summer arrival from Chelsea, made the error of joining the Blues but soon realised the dreadful, potentially career-ruining decision he’d made by going to Stamford Bridge and was quickly yearning after a switch across London to Emirates Stadium.

Philippe Senderos and Johan Djourou have been around the club a little longer than the trio mentioned above and deserve a mention if only for their appearance as a pairing at the heart of Switzerland’s defence at the World Cup in 2006.

Then there is Emmanuel Eboue, who’s finest hour may have been the way he nullified and countered the considerable threat of Robinho at the Bernabeu in February last year.

Of course Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie could still be crowed as our number one Young Gun but considering they are already held in such high regard they cannot be named as the ‘next big thing’ for they have already ‘arrived.’

Who does that leave? Well plenty. Gael Clichy is playing out of his skin at left-back and Justin Hoyte must surely deserve a mention if only to up the English quota.

Besides those named, we have another wave of Premier League pretenders headed by Nicklas Bendtner and Fran Merida.

But who gets YOUR vote as the best of the bunch? The crème de la crème? Let us know your choice via the comments below...

I think if we put lassana diarra into the premiership games then he will show that he is the best young talent we have.
