The best signing ever made is imminent

The news every Arsenal fan around the world has been waiting for is finally here – well almost.

Sky Sports News are reporting they “understand” Arsene Wenger will announce a renewal of his contract as manager of the club tomorrow.

Over the course of the last 12 months or so speculation has been rife as to whether or not the great Frenchman would commit to the club beyond his existing deal which runs until the end of the current campaign.

When David Dein was ousted as a board member at Arsenal in April of this year, that speculation inevitably gathered pace. For Dein was the man who initially introduced Le Gaffer to the English game and remains firm friends with the double Double winner.

Even Thierry Henry, Arsenal’s all time record goalscorer who left for Barcelona in the summer, cited the uncertainty over Wenger’s contract situation as a major factor in his decision to depart Emirates Stadium.

Now though, Wenger is said to be on the verge of allaying all our fears and signing a new three-year contarct which will make him Arsenal’s longest-serving manager of all time.
