Gael notes the winds of change at Arsenal

There’s been a lot of talk about Arsenal’s battling draw away to Blackburn being a “good point”, but does anyone else out there see it as two badly dropped points?

I may be alone in that, as the players are rallying round in their support of Mad Jens and the latest to speak out is arguably the most improved player in the Arsenal set up over the past year - Gael Clichy.

In an interview to be broadcast on ArsenalTV tomorrow, Clichy states that the performance at Ewood Park was another step in the team’s progression.

“We know we have the quality to play football,” says the 22-year-old Frenchman. “Everyone can see we have progressed [this season] and still want to progress in that way.”

Proving he’s no slouch at mathematics either, Clichy continues, “Last week we played on Wednesday and then on Sunday. There was four days in between. But we fought well and we defended well right from the strikers. Everyone was perfect and we were unlucky to lose two points in the end.”

Rather than focussing on those lost points, he reiterates the propoganda eminating from Emirates at the moment by noting the improved cameraderie in the squad.

“I can’t explain it, but it is a new team definitely and a different spirit definitely. I am really proud to see the team progress like this,” adds Clichy.

Have you noticed a better sense of togetherness in the Arsenal team? Are we better off having whinging Willie Gallas leading the line, than huffy Titi Henry? Share your views via the comments section below.

Yeah, we dropped points over the weekend, but that was due to a fluke (hopefully) error. Overall, the players fought tooth and nail against a Blackburn side clearly trying to muscle us off the ball. I think that's what the players are talking about when they make this kind of statement. There will always be times when something doesn't go quite right (ask any Liverpool fan about Styles), but you can only comment on overall form, really.

Yes, we dropped points, but we played well the whole game (offensively in the first half and solid defensively when they were in control for the second). That's the important bit, I think, and if we maintain our overall form (and get a few players to regain their best personal form), we'll be alright. After all, the only two goals we've conceded so far have been terribly unlucky, and those one-off events shouldn't be considered when trying to predict the next few games, because they're by nature unpredictable.

i see it as a just result in that we were bailed out by the ref earlier when samba headed in a corner and cesc swatted it with his arm, none of which mattered because samba was called for a nonexistent foul. so if the ref had called that as he should have, we would have been without cesc and blackburn would've had a penalty.
